Why your clients are your biggest marketing asset

One of the common triggers of burnout as a business owner is the constant cycle of launching and selling. Coming up with ways to expand your reach and find new clients is never ending and let’s be frank, exhausting. In the online space, we are consistently shown ways to market ourselves differently, ways to launch without overwhelm and how to leverage social media but rarely are we told the most simple and effective way of selling.

This strategy is so simple it often goes undetected!

Your clients - they are your biggest marketing asset

Your clients are not just a source of income they can also be advocates for your business. A happy, empowered and nurtured client can bring in more business by spreading the word to their peers, groups they are a part of and friends.

One customer, well taken care of, could be more valuable than $10,000 worth of advertising.”

- Jim Rohn

Having a strategic client journey that makes them feel seen, heard, valued, and understood is key to unlocking your referral network.

Here are some ways your clients can be your biggest marketing asset:

a) Word-of-mouth referrals

When your clients see and experience the value you provide they are likely to recommend you to their audience, groups or peers. Word-of-mouth referrals are so powerful because they are based on trust and personal experience.

TIP: Encourage your clients to refer you by offering a referral programme with discounts or freebies.

b) Strategic offer suite & referral programme

We all want our clients to re-sign or move into a different offer so, if your client is looking at ways to continue working with you beyond your current agreement…work with them to identify what’s next. Create a bespoke short-term offer or let them in on the development of your group programme. Boosting a client’s lifetime value not only increases your sales (and recurring revenue) but it also communicates the value you’ve provided and the impact you’ve had!

TIP: Offer them a discounted rate or extended payment plan to any new offer you think they may be a good fit for. They will appreciate the gesture and you’ll reap the rewards of their loyalty.

c) Case Studies & Reviews

Gaining feedback from your current clients that can be used across all your marketing channels is another way to build trust and credibility in your business. Positive reviews can help you rank higher in search results and attract new clients who are searching for your service.

TIP: Ask your client if they would be willing to do a short video or Instagram live talking about their experience with you. You can then turn this one piece of content into a TikTok video, Instagram reel, and add it to your Instagram highlights and on your website. A video case study can help potential leads pre-qualify themselves.
